Zdzisław Beksiński - Untitled (12)
Description
The photograph "Untitled (12)" by Zdzisław Beksiński is a print from the artist's original negative.
"(...) it was in the portrait works that Beksinski was able to speak most eloquently and convincingly about his own inner life, about the emotional states he carried within himself." - Dorota Szomko-Osękowska
The heroine of the photograph here is absorbed by her inner life, her dreams or even her worries, and this may constitute a 'spiritual self-portrait' of the artist himself. A conscious technical trick, such as the use of a shallow depth of field, in this case additionally enhances the mood of intimacy and emphasises the emotions on the protagonist's face. The lack of eye contact with the viewer may suggest a detachment of the figure from reality, creating a dreamlike ambience.
The contemporary print was created under the substantive and technical supervision of the Historical Museum in Sanok in a unique, limited series of 25 copies. The Historical Museum in Sanok, in accordance with the artist's will, became the sole heir to his works and the copyright to them. Each print has two stamps - one dry stamp with the name of the institution and the other wet stamp, with information about the series number and with the signature of the Director of the Historical Museum in Sanok.
