Zdzislaw Beksinski - Dream
Description
The photograph "Dream" by Zdzisław Beksiński is a print from the artist's original negative.
Beksiński always wanted to see his work in the expressionist art trend. As in drawing and painting, in photography from the very beginning, taking up themes and looking for a form carrying an emotional charge was his main intention. In "Śnie" Zofia is no longer the object of sexual fascination, as in the nudes, but instead plays a character alienated, asleep by the blackness of darkness. It is a photograph on the border of symbolism and existentialism, which is an example of an extreme simplification of means of expression, which focus on closed eyelids and candle flames.
A contemporary print was created under the substantive and technical supervision of the Historical Museum in Sanok in a unique, limited series of 30 copies. According to the artist's last will and testament, the Historical Museum in Sanok became the sole heir to his works and the copyrights to them. Each print has two seals - one dry with the name of the institution and the other wet, with information about the series number and the signature of the Director of the Historical Museum in Sanok.
