Waldemar Świerzy (1931-2013) - poster artist, one of the most recognizable graphic designers in Poland and worldwide, co-creator of the Polish Poster School, and a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts (ASP). From 1965, he taught at the State Higher School of Fine Arts (later ASP) in Poznań. In 1994, he took over the poster studio at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. He was an illustrator of books and a designer of album covers, calendars, and postage stamps. He created dust jackets for the series "Contemporary World Prose" published by PIW. He developed graphics for Polish pavilions at international fairs in New York, Vienna, Beijing, Casablanca, and Poznań. In the 1950s, he worked at the Artistic and Graphic Publishing House (WAG), which was one of the main centers in Poland shaping the character of Polish poster art. Waldemar Świerzy's works can be found, among others, in the collections of the Institute of Contemporary Art in London, Kunstbibliothek in Berlin, Hermitage in Leningrad, Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, National Museum in Poznań, Poster Museum in Wilanów, and others.
