Hanna Bakuła (born in 1950) - one of the most renowned Polish female painters, an active writer and journalist. She studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. In the 1980s, she spent her time in the United States, mainly in New York. There, she worked as a set designer, costume designer, and painted portraits. It was through creating images of well-known individuals that Bakuła's art gained popularity. However, her creative output extends far beyond that. The artist paints landscapes, erotic art, interiors, and also engages in ceramics and collages. Bakuła often employs a grotesque form, where human characteristics mix with animalistic ones, even within the realm of anatomy itself. Bakuła has received numerous awards and distinctions. She has written a series of books that explore personal and influential topics. She has published over 20 works, including two novels that became bestsellers: "Idiotka: Love in New York" and "Hazardzistka" (The Gambler).
