Józef Wilkoń (born 1930) - illustrator, painter, sculptor, and set designer. He is a graduate of the Painting Department of the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków (1955) and also completed art history studies at the Jagiellonian University (1954). In the mid-1950s, he moved from Kraków to Warsaw, starting collaborations with major publishers. His portfolio includes about 200 books, primarily for children, translated into over 20 languages. His path to international success in the field of illustration was opened by "Iv i Finetta" written by Natalia Gałczyńska. In 1963, the artist took on the task of creating a series of illustrations for "Pan Tadeusz." He is also involved in set design (e.g., Wilam Horzyca Theatre in Toruń, 1978) and designs tapestries (St. Wyspiański Cooperative in Kraków).
