Rays of summer - summer motifs in paintings

Summer motifs in painting are an oft-taken theme that gives artists the opportunity to express the beauty, joy and atmosphere of this time of year. Accordingly, one of the most popular summer motifs in painting is landscape. Such works often exude a carefree and relaxed atmosphere, while shown sun can create interesting reflections and contrasts. Below you will find the best selection of outstanding artists from the DESA Modern range.

Fairy-tale worlds full of harmony are characteristic of Rafal Olbinski's work. The representative of magical surrealism often paints seascapes with unbroken water surface. He loves the mysterious theme of day and night, depicting it masterfully within a single frame. Olbinski's "Abolition of Desire" tells the story of two lovers sitting opposite each other, hovering above the water level. "The Theory of Objectivity" is a story about the dreams of a young boy on a picturesque beach. For this, the allegorical message hidden in the work "Blessed Normalcy" is a foreshadowing of a new beginning, expressed through a zipper guided by birds.

In the realism trend, an idyllic image of summer is created by Jaroslaw Modzelewski. The figural scene of a forest landscape in "Boy on the Balcony" or the monochromatic linear landscape in "Ride on the Vistula" are his worthy representations. Among these reflective sceneries we find a clear horizon line and a subdued color palette. Modzelewski, known as a "painter of icons of everyday life," will thus be the answer for those who seek in art a respite from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Abstract images of summer can also be found in the work of color virtuoso Tadeusz Dominik. This is his most common theme, and the multicolored patches are the result of his greatest inspiration - nature. "Landscape (18)" with its yellow dominant may point to fields of grain or sunflowers, while the blue colors in "Landscape (14)" suggest a seaside resort and crystalline water.

Finally, Edward Dwurnik, in whose iconic cities we always find rays of sunshine. The series "Hitchhiking" with Lodz, Warsaw and Plock is an excellent proposal for fans of urban agglomerations shown from a bird's eye view. However, as it is in Dwurnik's case - the landscapes hide many smaller stories smuggled in genre scenes. "Summer Flight" over the city in a summer aura is also offered by Jaroslaw Jasnikowski, whose magical worlds are a promise of fairy-tale imaginings from childhood.

Nature-inspired artwork is mainly based on themes related to travel, beautiful views or various leisure activities. It also happens that artists, in order to tell about it, resort to abstraction and focus on energetic colors. The summer season is full of inspiration rich in luscious landscapes, full of light, colors and textures. Iconic motifs by some of the most prominent names in Polish contemporary art are a great idea for rearranging an interior, and the summer season can be the perfect stimulus for this.
