Description
Olbiński borrows a lot from Italian culture. He likes Italian painters, often mentions Italian towns in his titles, and refers to Italian opera. "Trying an icon" is a reinterpretation of the Renaissance work of Leonardo da Vinci - Mona Lisa (Italian: Gioconda). The caricature and figurative representation was borrowed directly from the language of the poster. The title seems suggestive here. Will the icon stand the test of time and remain unchanged, or will it take a more modern form and take its place in pop culture?
