Description

Rhapsody is one of the oldest musical forms, with roots reaching back to antiquity. The Greek origin of the word links it to the figure of a wandering poet-reciter, celebrating the tales of ancient heroes. In this context, Pola Yankee’s work takes on a special significance. By merging the visual experience of color with the oral tradition of poetic storytelling, the artist creates a piece at the intersection of two sensory impressions. After all, what is sound if not a wave? And isn’t a wave a close relative of the gradient — Yankee’s favorite painting technique?

The inkograph "Rhapsody" by Pola Yankee was released in a closed limited edition of 20 copies.

Pola Yankee — a Polish painter born in 1987 in Warsaw. Raised in an artistic family, she has been painting since the age of 16. She earned her degree with distinction from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń in 2012. She has participated in both national and international exhibitions, including two solo shows (Toruń, Alliance Française 2010; South Bend, Bernacchi Gallery 2009). She has sold several hundred works, which now reside in private collections in Poland and abroad. Using gradient, impasto, and glazing techniques, she creates multidimensional abstractions — often bordering on landscapes. She is most fascinated by the emotional power of color on the viewer.
