Pola Yankee - Be present
Description
The vectors of our aspirations — both personal and professional — cut through everyday reality. We live leaning into the future or trapped in the past. In this paradoxical world, we often miss what’s happening in the present. As a seasoned artist, Pola Yankee turns to her audience with a call: Be present, be here and now. The time-consuming glazing technique imitates the scattering of light as it fades into the darkness of denim navy. In this depth, a red thread drifts — its contrast jolts our gaze awake from the haze of distraction.
The inkograph "Be present" by Pola Yankee was released in a closed limited edition of 20 copies.
Pola Yankee — a Polish painter born in 1987 in Warsaw. Raised in an artistic family, she has been painting since the age of 16. She earned her degree with distinction from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń in 2012. She has participated in both national and international exhibitions, including two solo shows (Toruń, Alliance Française 2010; South Bend, Bernacchi Gallery 2009). She has sold several hundred works, which now reside in private collections in Poland and abroad. Using gradient, impasto, and glazing techniques, she creates multidimensional abstractions — often bordering on landscapes. She is most fascinated by the emotional power of color on the viewer.
