Expression, humour, color and indispensable irony. This characterized the work not only of Paweł Kowalewski, but also of the entire Gruppa, which he co-created in the 1980s. In the years when artists in their creative activities expressed their opposition against the system, against the boundaries in art set at that time, as well as against reality outlined only in shades of grey. Colourful, loud in their expression, ironic works were not only a commentary and criticism of the actions of the then authorities, but also, due to the juicy humor woven into them, they winked at the viewer, giving a kind of antidote / recipe for the ubiquitous sadness and sense of hopelessness. Kowalewski often winked at such an eye, for example, as here, thanks to the titular mushroom showing the viewer coquettishly lizard tongue and buttocks.
