SIUDMAK. ONLY A DREAM CAN CROSS ALL BARRIERS.
SIUDMAK

Join us on a fascinating journey through the cosmic worlds of Wojciech Siudmak's art. On the occasion of the world premiere of the blockbuster " Dune: Part Two " (2024), we will take a look at the works of his authorship that inspired the director himself - Denis Villeneuve. In both cases, it's surrealism of the highest order!

Wojciech Siudmak is one of the most famous Polish painters of the science-fiction current. His works have gained recognition among the most prominent figures of the world of culture, such as Federico Fellini, Jean-Jacques Annaud, George Lucas, Paul Guth and Denis Villeneuve. The artist lives and works in Paris. In parallel to painting, he also works in drawing and sculpture. The world created by Siudmak is unique, full of personal symbolism and fantastic figures. He seeks universal beauty, based on the mathematical and the philosophical patterns. He is not interested in apparent beauty, but following in the footsteps of the ancient Greeks, he intuitively recognizes it in the numerical principles of cosmic harmony, as well as in the views of ancient great thinkers. As a result, Siudmak's works are characterized by unexpected threads of thought, as well as excellent artistic technique.

DESA Modern offers signed incographs of Wojciech Siudmak's most iconic titles. Each print is created in a limited, closed edition and bears the artist's handwritten signature. It is also accompanied by a certificate of authenticity, confirming the origin and use of the reproduction.

The work of greatest interest among collectors is undoubtedly "Idyll," depicting a man and a woman who are reflections of the concepts of yin and yang. The work deals with finding harmony in contradictions, and, according to the artist, reflects the inner duality of each person. A work full of virtuosity and mystery is "Secret Armada," which is a ship coming into port and personifying a woman. It is a foreshadowing of the future, which is uncertain in many respects, so it is a fascinating subject in Siudmak's work.

Wojciech Sidmak's vast artistic output has been recognized by numerous publications. Noteworthy is one of the latest publications, dedicated to his life and work. The album "SIUDMAK" is a delight for fans of fantastic realism, as it has been divided into three segments - painting, drawing and sculpture, and is accompanied by an extensive collection of statements by world-class artists who share their fascination for his art in a personal way.

Siudmak is also known as the author of the iconic illustrations and covers for Frank Herbert's science-fiction novel "Dune." His work directly inspired director Denis Villeneuve to create its film adaptation, the second part of which will be released in theaters on February 29, 2024. DESA Modern will offer the six-volume "Chronicles of Dune" series featuring Siudmak's artwork on the covers, along with masterful drawings inside.

There can be plenty of ways to get to know Wojciech Siudmak's work, hence many viewers discovered him precisely during the premiere of "Dune", numerous interviews related to it, as well as media recognition from director Denis Villeneuve. The latter had already collided with "Dune" as a thirteen-year-old precisely thanks to the book's cover, which made an electrifying impression on him. Thus, many years later after the screen adaptation, the 2021 cinematic blockbuster won 46 worldwide awards, including an Oscar, a Golden Globe and a BAFTA.

In Siudmak's portfolio, cover artwork occupies an important place; it is the emanating supernatural power of "The Emperor" or "The Man Who Created Earth" that has been created in the form of signed inkography. In addition, we offer the iconic "Throne," "Energy" and "God Emperor of Dune." These are works whose main message is a reflection on the nature of human ambition and the relationship with cosmic energy.

"Maybe we humans, this delightful dust of the universe, should lift our eyes higher to see the vastness of the cosmos, the harmony of the stars, its unity and the peace that the majestic sky bestows on us." W. Siudmak
