It tells stories and captures beauty
He is known for creating tasteful and elegant frames, in which attention is drawn not only to wonderful models, but also to a magical aura . He consciously does not want to explain what his photos are about, guided by the slogan "You are what you see". Master of black and white photography with over 20 years of experience - Szymon Brodziak.
It is difficult to list all his awards and distinctions. He has been presented at over 40 individual and group exhibitions in Poland and abroad. In 2013, during the Cannes Film Festival , he was recognized as the world's best photographer of black and white advertising campaigns , and in 2019, he was the winner of the World's Top 10 Black&White Photographers competition, organized on the international One Eyeland platform. Brodziak specializes in fashion and advertising photos, and his photo sets are huge undertakings, on which a team of people work . He finds a springboard from this intensity in his own projects, which he implements while traveling with his muse - wife Ana.
Sentimental returns
There are unique stories associated with individual photographs. "La Caleta" was created with Ana in Lanzarote, on the edge of a massive mountain called Caleta Famara. The view captured in the picture impresses because of the power of nature and the expanse of the ocean. Brodziak admits that he was inspired by the work of Salvador Dalí, who often placed small figures in his masterful landscapes. In turn, the series "Labirynt" is their sentimental journey. The place where the photo was taken, the Cretto di Burri Monument, is a concrete grid of streets reflecting the plan of the old town of Gibellina in Sicily, which was destroyed during an earthquake in the 1960s. They were there together for the first time in 2002 as a couple in love, and the photo they took at that time was not satisfactory for Szymon. They returned there after 16 years as a married couple for Ana to photograph again.
An inspiring evening
In February 2023 , we hosted the artist in our DESA Modern Gallery at Plac Konstytucji, where we had the opportunity to get to know the backstage of the ATM calendar in cooperation with famous actresses and actors selected for this project. The meeting was open and enjoyed great interest. The doors of our gallery were barely closing, and the number of guests was increasing. Szymon told us about his style, definition of beauty and inspirations for film visions. He emphasized the importance of Ana in his life, who supports him mentally and helps him on his artistic path.
