A unique meeting with one of the most recognizable artists of the Polish avant-garde and the founder of the artistic group Gruppa - Paweł Kowalewski . The meeting was held on the occasion of his joining the group of DESA Modern artists. The meeting was hosted by a Polish radio and television journalist - Piotr Kędzierski.
Paweł Kowalewski - in the years 1978-1983 he studied at the Faculty of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, where he graduated with distinction in the studio of Stefan Gierowski. Since 1985, he has been a lecturer at the Faculty of Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, where in 2019 he obtained the degree of professor of the Academy of Fine Arts.
Founder of Gruppa, the most famous Polish artistic formation of the 1980s , which he created together with Ryszard Grzyb, Jarosław Modzelewski, Włodzimierz Pawlak, Marek Sobczyk and Ryszard Woźniak. Gruppa's activities can be described as a rebellion against academicism and post-avant-garde attitudes in art, as well as a protest against censorship and repression by the communist authorities during the martial law introduced in 1981. Kowalewski felt the reality of that difficult moment in the times of the People's Republic of Poland as absurd and grotesque.
In the years 1984-1989, as part of the Gruppa magazine "Oh, good already" he wrote mocking texts, among others under the pseudonym of the imaginary American journalist Sharm Yarn.
