
Jan Morek (born 1940) - photojournalist. He is an observer of social life, a documentarian of important cultural, political, religious, and sports events. He was honored in the World Press Photo press photography contest and is a full member of the Warsaw District of the Association of Polish Art Photographers, the Authors Association ZAiKS, and the Documentary Association Droga. In 1966, he became a full-time photojournalist for the then The Polish Review (Afryka/Azja) of Polonia Publishing - later the Polish Interpress Agency, with which he collaborated until 1993. Currently, he collaborates independently with the Artistic and Film Publishing House. Morek is the author of many social and political photo reportages, including the photo reportage of Charles de Gaulle's visit to Poland (1967), Richard Nixon's visit to Poland (1972), Fidel Castro's visit to Poland (1972), and Pope John Paul II's pilgrimage to Poland in 1979. He is the author of photographic documentation from foreign trips of Polish politicians (including Edward Gierek's visit to Cuba in 1975) and portraits of famous figures in culture and science (such as Tadeusz Kotarbiński, Witold Lutosławski, Artur Rubinstein).
